We had a total of 19 in attendance and received very positive feedback from participants, particularly related to grease fittings, safety considerations and maintenance. Thanks to our volunteer speakers, Trooper Leathe and Randy Hoskins, along with Spaulding equipment for their joint sponsorship and provision of our demonstration tractor.
We received only 7 evaluations, so I’m attaching a digital copy of the evaluation form – if there is a possibility to share it with members that were in attendance that may not have completed it, that would be most appreciated. We had only one suggestion for a future program, and that was “goat parasites.” If you’d like us to help organize that for one of your early 2016 meetings, just let us know.
Thanks for including us – we look forward to helping out with future educational programming for SVMGA.

The business meeting was called to order by President Fontaine Talley.
Secretaries Report: The secretary was not in attendance, but the minutes from the August
meeting were accepted as posted on the website.
Treasurer’s Report: The beginning September balance was $4250.25, deposits were #343.00,
there is $40 in petty cash, so the current treasury balance for the Association is $4592.25.
Marketing Committee Report: There were 259 animals sold at the September 10 sale. The
association will hold another sale on Thursday, December 3 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Ms.
Duffer intends to resign after this sale.
Old Business: Ashley Nauta, the Halifax County Extension Agent, will be in charge of the
October meeting, about Tractor Maintenance and Repair.
For the Goat and Lamb show at the Halifax County Fair, there are 11 participants. Mr. Talley
will give the judge a stipend of $250, he will use $250 to award cash prizes.
New Business: There was a discussion about how to increase member participation and attendance in the next
year. The possibility of bringing refreshments was discussed. A nominating committee for next year’s slate of officers should be determined at the next meeting.
The October meeting will be held at the Ag Center Thursday October 22, at 6:30PM (30 minutes earlier than our usual meeting time). There will be a brief business meeting followed by the “Basic Tractor Safety and Maintenance Workshop.” See the previous post for workshop information.
We will not have the pot luck supper usually held in October, but would like to provide light refreshments. Please let me know by Tuesday October 20, if you can bring some homemade treat or maybe chips and dip or salsa. (Denise will not be able to attend so I am trying to help her out.)
Thank you and look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting.
