Consignment Sale a Huge Success

The November 17, SVMGA consignment sale was a huge success.  Halifax County Ag Director Leah Brown reported that 274 animals were sold:

Kids – 146

Does – 10

Bucks – 18

Lambs – 87

Sheep – 13

Thanks to everyone who volunteered and made this a success.



Meat Goat Consignment Sale Prices

Here are the prices for Saturday’s meat goat consignment sale:


Kid goats 40-60 pounds: $1.65 per pound

Yearling goats: $1.45 per pound

High Yield Does: $ .90 per pound

Culls: $ .85 per pound

Bucks: $ .90 per pound


Lambs under 80 pounds: $1.45 per pound

Lambs over 80 pounds: $1.25 per pound

Ewes and Rams: $ .80 per pound


Reminder: Meat Goat Consignment Sale November 17

The Southern Virginia Meat Goat Association is having a meat goat consignment sale on Saturday, November 17, 2012. The sale starts at 7:00 A.M. and ends at 10:30 A.M.  The sale will be held at the Halifax County Agricultural Marketing Center, 1001 Farmway Lane (Route 922), Halifax, VA 24558.

This sale is for good quality kids (35 lbs — 70 lbs).  Kids will be sold by the pound at a premium price. The price will be posted five days prior to sale on this website.

Commission Fees: $1 per head for SVMGA members. $5 per head for non-members. You can join SVMGA at the sale and pay the member fee. For more info about membership go to the “About” page on this website.

All animals must have a scrapie tag and be in good health. Yearling does, bucks and culls will be accepted but with separate pricing. SVMGA reserves the right to reject any animal.
