SVMGA Meat Goat/Sheep Sale A Success!

The sale held on October 22, 2011 was a huge success. There were 363 goats and sheep sold.

Many thanks to Leah Brown, Halifax County Ag Development Director and the SVMGA Marketing Committee and other members who worked hard at the sale and ensuring it was a success!

 


Consignment Sale Prices

Here are the prices for the SVMGA consignment sale on Saturday, October 22:

Kids  $1.60

Yearlings  $1.30

High Yielding Does   $0.80

Adult Bucks  $0.90

Lambs up to 80 lbs.   $1.70

October Consignment Sale

October 16, 2011

Just a reminder: The SVMGA October Consignment Sale is Saturday, October 22, at the Halifax County Ag Marketing Center, 1001 Farmway Lane (Route 922), Halifax, VA 24558.  The sale runs from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

This sale is primarily for quality kids, 35-70 pounds.  The price paid per pound will be announced five days prior to the sale.  Commission fees are $1 per head for SVMGA members and $5 per head for non-members.

Yearling does, bucks and culls will be accepted, but with separate pricing.  All animals must have a scrapie tag and be in good health.

Farm owner and SVMGA vice president Denise Hudson was interviewed by Channel 13’s James Gherardi and discussed many aspects of local meat and dairy goat production, products and marketing.
