Whether you’re interested in meat goat production or milk goats and cheese making, you won’t want to miss our August meeting with speaker Dave Artigues. Artigues, owner of Elodie Farms, Rougemont, NC, will talk about his successful goat cheese operation and how his farm business supports tours, summer day camps, “Porch Suppers” with chefs from the Raleigh/Durham area, and agri-tourism events including team-building retreats.
A former psychologist, Artigues started with Boer goats and then changed to milk goats. He currently produces several cheeses for sale on site, through various restaurants, caterers and at local farm markets. If you’re debating about raising goats, sheep, etc. – wondering if the venture can be more a business than a hobby – you don’t want to miss this program. Bring a friend and learn how one man developed a farm plan that fit his family’s lifestyle. Who says work can’t be fun and profitable!
The meeting is Thursday, August 25, 7:00 p.m at the Halifax County Agricultural Marketing Center, 1001 Farmway Lane (Route 922), Halifax, VA 24558.
